NEW BIRD AT AVIARY VOWS TO EVOLVE INTO 'PITTSBURGH COLORS'

NORTH SIDE - A bird newly-arrived at the National Aviary has announced that he will be evolving to a black-and-gold color scheme as soon as possible.

The bird, known as the Cock of the Rock, said his integration into his new home has been a little, well, rocky. "The building's really nice and I get food without having to go look for it. It sure beats having to live in the mountains and fend for myself.

"But then I started hearing some people talking about 'Flyer' colors. I thought they were complimenting my soaring skills, but it turns out they think I look like somebody named Gritty."

The bird had another clue that something was wrong, too. "The penguins kept body-checking me into the glass," he complained. He says he was hurt by one of the checks, but would only describe it as "a lower-body injury."

"I don't need this hassle, so I'll be evolving the orange into gold as soon as possible," Cock of the Rock said. "Certainly I'll be ready for the Steelers' training camp next summer. And Go Pens."
