GENE COLLIER IS STEALING MY JOKES

EDITORIAL - The Post-Gazette, in an effort to have more people sign up for PG+, is allowing freeloaders access to certain features of the site. So it is that this freeloader was able to view Gene Collier's "Two-Minute Warning" video on July 22.
Imagine my shock when Mr. Collier said that the police should have blown a whistle on the Jabaal Sheard fight in order to end the play. That is precisely what I said in a July 19 blog posting. Coincidence? I think not.
I'm a big fan of Mr. Collier's, especially his Pennsylvania black bear articles. He even inspired me to write a black bear posting last Fall, when he failed to publish his annual preview of bear season. But I didn't copy what he's said in the past - I came up with my own material.
I'm just a lone girl sending a little blog out into the world, not some fancy sports reporter for a big city newspaper. Mr. Collier would be advised to stop stealing from me. This first time, I'm willing to consider it a form of flattery. Any more times, and I'm gonna be miffed.

DEFENSE ATTORNEY BLAMES POLICE FOR NOT BLOWING WHISTLE ON FIGHT

"Of course Jabaal [Sheard] was going to keep fighting," his lawyers says about the Pitt defensive end. "He's always competed on every play until the whistle blew. Hitting him with a baton isn't the same thing."

LOCAL WOMAN GIVES UP ON LOVE AFTER JAKE-VIENNA SPLIT

HARRISBURG - Sales representative Deb Catalan has given up on love and romance after last week's announcement that 'The Bachelor' couple Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi had called off their engagement.
"I was sure they were going to make it," a sobbing Catalan said today. "He was so good to her with all those romantic dinners and exotic dates. It just ruins your faith in love and happiness, you know?"
Ironically, Catalan is a wedding consultant. "We get these sweet young couples coming in, and I just want to tell them to go away," Catalan says. "They want to spend $30,000 on a wedding, and I all I can think is, why bother? You'll just end up angry and in tears like Vienna. Take the money and go on vacation - separately."
In hindsight, Catalan thinks Jake and Vienna may have not been ideal for each other. "I don't think Jake was looking for true love," Catalan admits. "Maybe he thought that way at first, but I think he ended up picking the girl that put out the most."
